Update March 1, 2011: The case discussed in Animal Law Coalition’s original report below has been dismissed pursuant to a settlement agreement. The government agencies agreed to respond finally to Plaintiffs’ petition.

Outgoing Ohio Governor Ted Strickland today issued an executive order as part of the agreement he brokered with the Humane Society of the United States last year.
According to the governor’s office, "The emergency executive order allows for the immediate adoption of a new Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ Division of Wildlife rule that bans the private ownership of dangerous wild animals."
