NC Gas Chamber Regulations Mask Cruelty and Danger
This billboard stands as a reminder to Craven County, North Carolina residents that pet animals, dogs and cats, are dying every day in gas chambers in their local shelter.
A grass roots effort, the North Carolina Coalition for Humane Euthanasia (NCCHE), has been working to stop the use of carbon monoxide gas chambers as well as other cruel and inhumane methods of killing shelter animals in the state.
Michigan Ban on Animal Gassing Passes Committee
Update July 3, 2010: The Michigan House of Representatives Committee on Agriculture has approved H.B. 4263, a ban on the use of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide by anyone to kill dogs and other animals. The vote was 8-2.

GA Gov Signs Gas Chambers Ban into Law!

Update June 5, 2010: Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue has announed that he has signed HB 788 into law! This means by January 1, 2011, no county or city in the state can use carbon monoxide gas chambers to kill shelter animals.

Pennsylvania Senate Bill 672, introduced by Sen. Sean Logan would mean an end to animal gas chambers in the state. Five public shelters still use CO gas chambers to kill shelter animals.

Louisiana Bill to Ban Gas Chambers Assigned to House Committee

Update April 28, 2010: S.B. 73, which would ban the use of animal gas chambers in Louisiana, is now in the House of Representatives and assigned to the Committee on Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture, and Rural Development.

A Grass Roots Effort to Shut Down CO Gas Chambers in TX
Sulphur Springs, Texas city councilor Craig Johnson stepped up to lead an effort to ban the use of carbon monoxide gas chambers in that city's animal shelter.
And he won.
UT Euthanasia Bill Dies

Update Mar. 16: The Utah state Senate failed to pass H.B. 185 before the end of the legislative session, and the bill is now dead.
More States Taking on Gas Chambers
Update: The bills in New York, West Virginia, New Mexico, Illinois passed and are now law!
NC Gas Chamber Legislation is Dead for this Session
Update: The pro-gassing bill, H.B. 27, was defeated in Committee today. That bill is now dead. Davie's Law, H.B. 6/S.B. 199 is also dead.
Despite their promises during their election campaigns last year, neither Gov. Perdue nor Sen. David Hoyle said a word in support of Davie's Law or any gas chamber ban.
