Update Mar. 3, 2010: H.B. 398 has now passed the Kentucky House and is before the state Senate Agriculture Committee. This fast tracked bill would create a board openly named for the pro-horse slaughter organization, Equine Health and Welfare Alliance.

Update Mar. 8, 2010: As the budgeting process in Congress is underway, it is important now more than ever for you to call on President Obama for a moratorium on the wild horse and burro roundups until there can be an investigation or hearing on BLM's management of these animals and a better course of action set.

FL Lawmakers Hope to End Illegal Slaughter of Horses
Florida lawmakers hope to put an end to the theft and illegal slaughter of horses that have plagued areas of Miami Dade and Broward Counties. About two dozen horses have been found brutally dismembered.
Police have made arrests and say at least one suspect has confirmed stealing horses from their stalls and slaughtering them to sell their meat on the black market.
